Happy Lu Year! A while back you asked what I meant by "detachment" and I have been meaning to reply to you about that. Sorry for the delay. By detachment I mean stepping back mentally and/or physically assuming it's safe to do so, from a situation in order to make the best objective judgement about how to proceed.

My mention of it is based on ex-Navy Seal Jocko Willink's philosophy as expressed in his book Discipline Equals Freedom in which he says among many other bitchen bon mots "Gain perspective. And to do that you must do something critical in many situations: detach. Whatever problems or stress you are experiencing, detach from them."

So that's that as far as detaching goes. Unless you're water skiing or floating in space, in which case you might want to hang on to the rope.
